    Does everything I hoped

    Fast, well built and runs everything I've thrown at it including some demanding Switch emulation. The Moon White finish is gorgeous but it is a bit of a fingerprint magnet, which is a minor gripe. The portrait screen took a day to get used to and now I prefer it.

    Decent but runs warm

    The 8GB model handles most of what I run, but it gets noticeably warm across the back after 30-40 mins of heavier emulation. The Snapdragon clearly works hard in a chassis this small. Not uncomfortable to hold, just worth knowing. Performance is otherwise fine for the money.

    The tall 1600x1440 LTPS panel is lovely and the 8+ Gen 1 handles everything I play. The 6000mAh battery does drain quicker on heavier emulation than I'd like, but for lighter retro stuff it lasts fine. Still really happy with it.

    Disappointing out of the box

    Mine arrived with a cluster of dead pixels near the top-right of the LTPS panel. Once you spot it you can't unsee it. Everything else about the hardware seems fine, but on a screen-first device like this it's a real letdown. Waiting to hear back from support.

    Good — not without its quirks

    A few emulators need manual per-game configuration to run right on Android, which is a bit of a faff if you're not technical. Once it's set up though the 8+ Gen 1 is very capable and the Lava Red unit looks great. Happy overall.
